Of Course

Wednesday August 23rd, 2017 | 10PM - 11PM

Created in 2014, Of Course, formed with Will Maurer, Émile Tempère and Germain Després, set its sights on analogue synthesizer and drum machines to create their first EP First, (nominated at the GAMIQ 2016 in the category for best electronic EP). The trio then subsequently associated with the rap group Amalgame to release Le Prix du Funk during summer of 2016, an EP that has been highly successful. Most recently, Of Couse offered a second EP: Naufrage un Jeudredi. It was presented last April during one of their live Facebook. It’s their first original EP exclusively in French exploring Techno, House and Disco.

It was during a multi-disciplinary performance in a Mexico City art show in February 2014 that the L.A. FOSTER project was born. Originally from Edmonton, Lesley Ann Foster lived in many parts of the world, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico before settling down in Montreal. After many successful artistic collaborations, she launched her debut EP entitled Saudade in November 2015, named after the Portuguese word which signifies the sentiment of longing after something is gone. The E.P. was acclaimed in both Canada and Europe, and brought the artist to play several prominent showcases, notably at events such as The Great Escape, POP Montreal, and Sled Island, where she opened up for Kaytranada. L.A. FOSTER’s first full length album is due out next year, keep your ears to the ground!

Sophia Bel

Friday August 25th, 2017 | 10.30PM - 11.30PM

Sophia Bel first caught the public’s ear back in 2016 during her stint at La Voix, where her wide range of vocal abilities were quick to impress. Putting her jazz background and academic credentials to good use, the singer-songwriter then spent the following year crafting and releasing a series of singles, as well as a first music video for her song Winter. She has shared the stage with the likes of Kroy, Geoffroy and Soran. With her blend of organic songwriter, Sophia Bel lends her voice to an amalgam of hazy atmospheres to create a unique and warm musical space. Both soft and audacious, the young artist’ songs are as much the product of her pop heritage as they are the symbol of a new generation of artists marked by modernity. Not so much a celebration of club culture, Sophia Bel’s brand of electro-pop is more about the darker side of the big city’s nightlife. A place where minds are free to roam as the black-lights and the smoky eyes fade into a cold, chill wave.
