FMD CONNECTED – The first set

The Fashion and Design Festival has given voice to creators on the national and international scene as part of the new FMD CONNECTED Series, broadcast on the FACEBOOK page.

They offered an intimate and rich experience to the spectators, creating stimulating and highly inspiring discussions animated by Stéphane Le Duc, moderator and curator for MODE & DESIGN, now editor at Dress to KILL magazine.

Born in Cheshire, and educated in Liverpool, the hatter Stephen Jones burst onto the London fashion scene during his street style period in the late 1970s.

With a 40-year career with hat, he has styled the heads of several celebrities and animated the store windows of the biggest houses: Moschino, Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons, Schiaparelli, Louis Vuitton and Victoria Beckham.

Graduated from HEC in 1987, Jean-Marc Mansvelt has distinguished himself with popular groups, such as L’Oréal in 1988 and the LVMH group in 2004.

In January 2015, Jean-Marc Mansvelt took on the role of CEO for Chaumet, the French company which is, among other things, recognized for their emblematic tiaras. Refined, prestigious, elegant, the reputation of this prestigious jewelry house dating from 1780 is well established.

  • MAY 22 – Sebastien Bertaud

Graduated from the Paris Opera Choreographic Academy where he followed the teaching of William Forsythe, which he was assistant, Sébastien Bertaud is also a graduate of the Experimental Master in Arts and Politics at Sciences-Po Paris. Inspired by his career within the Academy, his work as a choreographer revolves around the concept of developing classical dance from a contemporary perspective.

He created Renaissance for the Paris Opera Ballet, In this vessel we shall be kept for the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Nuit blanche for the Rome Opera Ballet, and Utopia for the Festival Origen. He frequently collaborates with major fashion houses for the production of his stage costumes, notably with Dior and Balmain.

Originally from Montreal, the artistic director has gradually shaped the most important moment in the history of design for the past ten years: he designed the American Apparel stores, he made a car fly above the crowd at a Drake concert and created a vast decor evoking natural environments for Florence and The Machine.

He also won a Grammy for his work on St. Vincent’s album, Masseducation. The list of his clients is as impressive and varied as the extent of his role: concert realization, scenography of the tours of Jay-Z and Rihanna, interior design of the Stüssy boutiques, and even, artistic direction for PornHub.

  • JUNE 5 – Jean-Pierre Blanc

Born in Hyères in 1964, Jean-Pierre Blanc created in 1986 the Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival, intended to support young creators.

Since 2003, Jean-Pierre Blanc has been director of the Villa Noailles, now an art center, where he programs contemporary exhibitions of fashion, photography, design and architecture. He therefore initiated ambitious projects geared towards access to culture, the re-discovery of the place and the promotion of young creators.

  • JUNE 12 – Marie-Ève Lecavalier

Graduated from the Bachelor in Management and Fashion Design from UQAM in 2014, Marie-Ève’s experience makes her want to have a place for herself in high-end fashion. In 2015, she left for Geneva for two years, to complete a master’s degree in fashion design and accessories at the prestigious Haute École of art and design.

Her graduation collection, Come Get Trippy With Us, made up of eco-responsible pieces with recycled leather knits, psychedelic prints inspired by Frank Zappa and vintage denim will be selected for the prestigious international competition of the Festival of Fashion and Photography. Hyères in France.

  • JUNE 19 – Florence Müller

Graduated from l’École du Louvre and the Institute of Art and Archeology, Florence was appointed director of the “textiles and fashion” department of the Denver Art Museum in 2015.

In addition to being an art and fashion historian, teacher and consultant, she is also the curator of more than 100 exhibitions, a very daring and challenging choice. In 2018, she and Olivier Gabet were responsible for the exhibition dedicated to Dior at the Musée des Arts décoratifs.

  • JUNE 26 – Hubert Barrère

An exceptional embroiderer, Hubert Barrère became, in 2011, the artistic director of the prestigious Maison Lesage, which since 1924 has produced highly sophisticated embroidery, requiring many hours of work, for haute couture, ready-to-wear and accessories. and impeccable thoroughness.

The 3 most important houses with which he collaborates are Chanel, Dior and Valentino, and he has established close collaborations with several other houses including Armani, Balenciaga, Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Prada et Pucci.
